The world is now focusing and pushing hard to reduce the carbon footprint in all the activities we do. The global Aluminium industry, from Bauxite mine to Billets/ Sheet Ingots/Ingots are also facing the challenge to reduce their carbon emissions and greenhouse gases which affects the global warming and climate change.
It is considered as Green Aluminium when the CO2e is less than 4 MT / MT of Aluminium which is normally achieved when the Aluminium is produced with renewable energy, mainly Hydro power/Solar power. Recycling is the best saver of CO2 emissions and carbon footprint as it takes only 6.37% of the energy and 4.45% of GHG emissions in comparison to Primary production. The demand for the “Green” or “Low Carbon” is growing fast and expected to grow exponentially as the need to cut down GHG emissions increases with time. End users of Aluminium are increasing the proportion of Green Aluminium.’
